About the Course

This course is designed for residents of Canada, United States, Australia and the United Kingdom.


In this course, Jessica will walk you through step-by-step typing your own Will. Typed up Wills are more properly known as Formal or Solemn Wills. Topics covered include:

-the legal requirements for making a formal Will;

-the parts of the Will;

-sample provisions and wording for your Will;

-considerations when choosing an executor;

-considerations when choosing a guardian for minor children;

-the types of property ownership and their effects on your ability to deal with them in your Will;

-survivorship clauses;

-how to gift to a charity properly;

-cutting someone out of your Will;

-choosing proper witnesses; and

-properly signing and dating your Will.


The course is completed with a section covering the storage of your Will, considerations warranting updating your Will, how to revise your Will, and the basics of gathering information that will be needed by your executor when you die.


The course finishes with a live Q & A. Note: Jessica Bortnick is not able to provide legal advice but can answer procedural and non-substantive legal questions.
